Hello! I am a New Mexico-based visual artist and elementary art teacher whose work spans fine art photography, painting, drawing, and mixed media.
My love of painting began as a teenager — a practice I made time for through college and into my adult life. Teaching elementary art has only deepened that passion, pushing me to grow as an artist alongside my students every single day.
My love of photography goes back even further, to my childhood, when my parents gave me my first camera. I have been taking pictures ever since. For me, photography is painting with light and capturing moments in time. Whether I've been behind a lens or holding a brush, the goal is the same: to capture a moment. From grand landscapes frozen in time to the quiet beauty of small everyday objects, I look for beauty in places others might overlook.

Every piece that leaves this studio is made with care — not just craft. I believe art is meant to be lived with, not locked away. It belongs on your walls, in your home, in the spaces where your life actually happens.
I don't take lightly the fact that I get to do this. My talent is not something I earned — it's something God blessed me with, and I feel a real responsibility to use it well. That means showing up to the work honestly, putting intention into every piece, and making sure what I create is worthy of the trust someone places in it when they bring it home.

How the work gets made
The creative process
Every piece begins with observation. Raelynn spends time in a place — or with a feeling — before she ever picks up a camera or brush. Her photography is largely intuitive, built around light and timing. Her paintings often begin with a photograph as a reference, then evolve into something more layered and personal through texture, color, and mark-making.
Observe & Research
Time spent in the landscape, the studio, or simply sitting with an idea before anything is made. Ideas are prayed about and references are contemplated so every image is well thought through.
Draw and Plan
Once ideas have been gathered then the first sketches begin where every detail is intentionally planned out.
Create
Painting and mixed media as a way to push beyond the photograph into something felt rather than seen.

Prints and originals made available so the work can live in homes and spaces that matter to people.
